My Approach

my training

My integrative training draws on psychodynamic thinking, attachment theory and neuroscience and the power of the arts as both conscious and unconscious forms of communication.

I believe art is the psyche at work. When we are in distress, we can get overburdened by the cognitive left side of the brain. The creative right side of the brain allows you to explore your world using visual, verbal or physical expression. This can support you to gain powerful insights to those difficult or painful feelings, relationships and experiences.

I offer a safe, calm and creative space where together we can explore how emotional distress might show up for you as mental health issues such as anxiety or depression, physical illness or negative patterns of behaviour. You might want to process trauma, manage ruminating thoughts or stop feeling stuck. We all, including you, have the potential for change. In the space, you will learn to reclaim your power to speak your truth.

As a female person of colour, I have experience of the imbalance of power that has originated from inequality within familial, social and economic circles. I have lived experience of boarding school syndrome and understand now how feelings of abandonment, bereavement, confinement and disassociation have dominated my emotional development. I am aware the imbalance of power – whether in families, society or the workplace – is part of all our collective experiences.

The work can be challenging. There can be ‘ah-ha’ moments and laughter. The potential outcome of creative psychotherapy with me is an increased sense of agency, autonomy and self-awareness. I work with adults aged 18 years+.
